Experience "Mochitsuki"!! The cooked rice is pounded with wooden mallets (kine) in a traditional mortar (usu). Two people alternated the work, one pounding and the other turning and wetting the mochi. After "mochituski", we tasted the mochi! *Mochi is a Japanese rice cake.

Mochitsuki is a Japanese cooking technique and the traditional mochi-pounding ceremony in Japan. It is the act of pounding steamed sticky rice, in order to make "mochi" rice cakes. We tried to do Mochitsuki in Sakura Hotel Hatagaya and it was really delicious!!
