Sleepy Chuo-ku doesn't have the glamour of glitzy Ginza on its west, or the laid-back Edo style of Asakusa in the north, but it possesses a unique charm. Riverwalks along the Sumida river make a relaxing stroll, while Odaiba, an artificial city-island built on reclaimation land is just a short ride away. Across the river in Nihombashi are some of the oldest businesses in the country, such as the headquarters of the Bank of Japan, Mitsui Bank and the first Takashimaya department store.
