Tokyu Ikegami line - your route to a quieter, more relaxed life
Starting at Gotanda and running to its terminus at Kamata, the Tokyu Ikegami line spans 10.8km, two city wards and 15 stations across south-eastern Tokyo.
The areas surrounding each station stop are generally packed with shops, convenience stores and restaurants that eventually give way to quiet and laid back surburban streets. If you ever find yourself stressed out by the fast-pace of life in central Tokyo and long for somewhere quiet but with good transport, then the area along the Ikegami line could be exactly the kind of place that you have been looking for! On top of that, this area is also home to a lake (surrounded by cherry blossoms on spring) and many cultural interest points such as the famous Honmonji temple at Ikegami.
That being said, each station has its own specific highlights so why not click a station marked with to see premises and learn more about the area!

Let's check the scenery along Tokyu Ikegami line.
Ikegami is host to a wide range of shops and even more restaurants, should you take the time explore a little. Immediately around the station you can find a Tsutaya DVD rental, fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and izakaya style bars. If you head down the side-streets there are many more restaurants selling Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Despite these convenient shopping areas however, Ikegami is, at its heart, a tranquil and easy-going neighborhood.
Ikegami is also home to Honmonji Temple, a large temple complex founded by a famous Buddhist monk named Nichiren. Though mostly reconstructed following bombing in 1945, the temple grounds also feature the oldest pagoda in Tokyo and a statue of Nichiren himself that has been designated an important cultural property. Every October between the 10th and 13th a large festival is held to comemmerate Nichiren and the temple grounds come alive with people and bright decorative lanterns.
